Dear colleagues, parents, students, teachers, alumni and well wishers,
Our College has entered 60 and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations have begun. The Chief justice of India and our most prestigious alumnus, Justice K.G. Balakrishnan had lit the lamp marking the opening of Diamond Jubilee celebrations on 27th February 2010. On the eve of this historic day, UGC recognized our college as a College with Potential for Excellence, granting a jubilee gift of Rs. 1 crore for making it a Centre of Excellence. This is an occasion to rededicate ourselves to the noble values and pursuit for excellence cherished by our founders. Let us thank God Almighty and pay tributes to our founder Patron late Bishop Mar Sebastian Vayalil, former Patron Bishop Mar Joseph Pallickaparambil, the present Patron Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangattu and the manager very Rev. Msgr. O.P. Eanas Ottathengunkal for their vision and mission that guided us in our march towards excellence. Let us pray for our former managers, principals, teachers, non- teaching staff, alumni and well wishers for their hard work which made our institution a leading center of higher education having 12 UG and 14 PG programmes, with facilities for research in 12 disciplines.
Dear students, this college is proud of you. Last year we had splendid results with 16 university ranks, 24 UGC- CSIR winners and 16 research scholars were awarded Ph.D. We captured the overall championship in Athletics in the M.G. University. During 2009-2010 our faculty and research scholars had published over 100 research papers in reputed national/international journals. More than 25 sponsored research projects are being implemented by our faculty in various frontier areas of research. We had organized over 15 national seminars/ conferences/ workshops in addition to over 30 invited talks by experts. UGC had approved over Rs.115 lakhs financial support under UG and PG assistance and merged scheme during XI Plan period. All our PG departments were selected for PG development assistance, which enabled us to provide modern equipments in our labs and PG class rooms. Thanks to DST/ UGC/ KSCSTE support, we have all necessary facilities in our science departments. Our career guidance and placement cell is very active has been successful in providing maximum campus placements to our students. We have the best faculty, having very high qualifications and commitments. Our alumni association is also very active with many innovative programmes. The all India Inter University cross country championship we hosted in 2009-10 was a live testimony to our organizational skills, team spirit and co- operation. It was a mix of various cultures from over 120 universities in India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Rajasthan to Manipur.
Dear Students, this college is for you. The Universities in Kerala have introduced Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS) in undergraduate classes to cope up with the modern trends. For PG programmes semester system is followed from 2002. As part of these you have to undergo continuous internal and external assessment and end semester examinations are conducted twice in an year during October/ November and April/ May. You have no time to waste. The present era of education gives more importance to skill development to become more employable by acquiring soft skills. Aptitude tests, group discussions, Interviews, Personality tests etc. have become essential components of any selection process. There are ample opportunities for research and higher studies. and higher studies. You have to be motivated and self confident. Let us develop a new culture of innovation and hard work with firm desire and determination for achieving our goals you should be punctual and systematic, humble and honest. Let us nurture deep rooted values and faith in God along with an uncompromising search for truth knowledge and excellence.
