St. Thomas College, Pala has been a premier institution for higher education in Kerala, with thirteen undergraduate and fourteen postgraduate courses, and seven Research centres. It is one of the biggest centres for doctoral research in Kerala. In order to cater to the ever increasing needs of research scholars, students and information seekers, a modern, hi-tech library has now been built up in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of the College.

         Construction of the new library building started in 1998 when Rev. Dr. Kurian Mattam was the Principal and Rev. Dr. M.M. Mathew, the Bursar. It has now been completed under the able supervision of Rev. Dr. M.M. Mathew, the Principal and Rev. Dr. Mathew John Kokkatt, the Bursar of the College. The new library has become a reality through the generous contributions from the UGC, the College Management, the staff, students, parents, the alumni and well-wishers of the College.

Facilities Available 

         The newly built Golden Jubilee Library is a threen storeyed building having a total plinth area of 20,000 sq.ft. with separate degree, postgraduate, research and reference sections. A well-furnished reading room which has seating for 200 is separately arranged.  The Library has a total number of 69,275 books, 62 scientific journals and 140 periodicals.

The whole process of students attendence , issue, return of books has been computerized with the Bar coded identity Cards.

Broadband Internet

Network Resource Centre

A broadband network resource centre has also been started in the Library to enable students to have access to the Internet. The Library is open from 8 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on all working days.

CC TV

 

The Library is  equipped with closed circuit TV system. 

Xerox Facility

 

The Library is also having two Xerox machines which is extensively used by students and staff. 

 

OPAC- Online Public Access Catalog System)

 

         The college library has connected to the OPAC. Now it is possible to access book and its status from anywhere in the world with search facilities  Title/Author/Subject/Publisher/Keywords etc

Seminar Hall

         Msgr. Emmanuel Mecherikunnel Seminar Hall, built in honor of the founder manager of the College, is part of the Library building.
