The Department of Commerce(Self-financing) was formed in the year 2013 with an Undergraduate programme in commerce(B.Com) with computer application as the elective Dr. K V Thomas (Former Associate professor, Department of Commerce, St. Thomas College Palai) was then the coordinator of the department. Initially, the sanctioned strength of the programme was 40 which was later increased to 50.The vision of the department is “ To be a centre of excellence in business studies by upholding moral and ethical values “. The mission of the department is to empower the learners with knowledge and awareness of current development in the fields of commerce and industry and promoting entrepreneurial and organizational skills among students . Dr. Jacob Joy T.(Former principal , Deva Matha College, Kuravlangad) has served as the coordinator of the department during the period 2017-2020. The department also offers an add-on programme in ‘Business entrepreneurship’.
